Bridge: CC, why is it still so slow?
« on: April 26, 2016, 06:17:44 pm »

just bought a new 27" imac last week with SSD hardrive. All apps are fast now... except Bridge! It's still slow like it was on my 2009 imac. Generating thumbnails still take one per second or so. Why the slowness? I'm baffled. Thanks.

consider FastRawViewer instead, regardless... http://www.fastrawviewer.com

the author was frustrated, with Bridge exactly, upon him returning once from his outing w/ many raws and hence FRV was written...

Thanks Alter, I tried PHoto Mechanic, and really never like the interface, so went back to Bridge. I could give this a spin do you use it? I looks more like Bridge..

That said, I would still like get an answer to my question, very curious!

Generating thumbnails still take one per second or so.

what are your camera raw & bridge preferences ? like using GPU enabled, where is cache ? I have both cache on RAM disk (which is 10-100 times more throughput than SSD)

Thanks Alter,
I have not looked in ages.

Raw, says 1GB cache, in users folder (mac hd) which is now SSD.

Keep 100% previews is checked
auto export unchecked

Tell me what you recommend, lot of boxes!

Where is GPU? Can't find it.

Anything else? Thanks.  But cache just helps once everything is generated. I'm saying that for new folders is so slow. Also quesiton: in Ram, says 10GB. PS is only 500mb, what is up with that?
