Z3200 HP Utilities Source Profiles folder location?
« on: April 23, 2016, 09:24:57 am »

Does any one know where this folder is located?
It doesn't seem to be in the HP Utilities package.

start by looking in /Library/ColorSync  or  maybe  /Library/Printers

It really should be in your computer's root library.

If you're on a mac, it should be in the folder illustrated below.

Hi Mark,
Those are printer profiles (from the Paper Presets).
I'm looking for the source profiles folder so I can add some newer versions of 4c press profiles.
I made the invisible files visible and still haven't had any luck.
HP buries them very deep.
Support wouldn't even tell me where they are!

I don't think that the list that you are looking at is on your computer. They should be located on the printer itself... the HP Utility is basically a basic web browser that queries the printer.

If you have the printer on your network, go to your web browser and type in the IP address of the printer.

In Main -> Submit job

you will see that it looks exactly the same as the HP Utility's interface, with some differences on the help information but the user interface etc. is identical. My guess is that in order for you to change the available color profiles you will have to hack the firmware and then upload that to the printer...

Hi Tony,
That was my understanding as well but I can start HP Utilities when the printer is turned off so my hope is the folder resides locally.  The web interface has no access to that folder either.

I just tried it on my mac with the HP turned off and although the HP Utilities started up when I clicked on submit job I got a blank window with a dialog box that said this:

http://192.168.XXX.XXX/hp/device/webAccess/index.htm?content=submit_job&core=y&__locale=en_CA
Reason: Could not connect to the server.

The IP address is my HP.

Hi Tony,
You are correct.  You can't access the printer when it is turned off.
You can, however, complete the set-up process in HP Utility which leads me to believe it's components reside locally on the computer.
But what do I know?
:)
