Pink Moon, Black Canyon
« on: April 22, 2016, 12:42:56 pm »

Admission to National Parks is free this week so I stopped by the local park last night for moonrise. It was challenging!
This is a 3 exposure HDR (blended in LR6) but I still blew out the moon detail.

Pretty cool.  Almost looks like a cutaway drawing of the Earth :)

It's an actual cutaway Earth! :D
Thanks.

Very nice indeed. Glad you didn't put one of those "fake" looking moons into the image.

Thanks, I was hoping to get a little moon detail via hdr but didn't spread that bracket out far enough. That was as far into cheater territory as I was willing to go with this one. I don't like the really fake ones either!
I'd like to try and get a similar shot from a higher vantage point across the canyon sometime. I think I could use a longer lens for a bigger moon and more of the canyon. Maybe next month...
