Storm clearing and the aftermath

The second shot is the morning after a major storm hit Mt Hood with 147mph winds at 6000 feet.  First wind and snow. Followed by rain and overnight freeze.  Wind sculpted drifts were solidified.  The first shot shows the clouds parting briefly to light a treelined ridge and valleys below.

Impressive. For #2, why not a square crop?
