epson 7890 error code 1537

I have an epson 7890 with cone ink + carts..   refilled my carts, re-started the printer and got error 1537.    reset the chip powered up and got the same error code.   replaced the cone cyan cart with an epson cart, powered up and everything worked fine..
question:  is there any other possible fixes for my cone cart or is it time for a new cart
