Chicago Alley Wall

When you walk through ‎Chicago‬, you can come across some pretty unusual sights, especially in its side streets, passages and alleys, when a typical banality of such places turns into a collection of shapes, patterns and colors, beautiful in its own strange way:

Lovely patterns. I wonder if it wouldn't be better if you c*****d off the black area - the only bit that isn't brickwork - right at the bottom. It's only a tiny bit and I'm sure Russ wouldn't even notice...

Since nobody else would notice either, why bother?  ;)

More subtle than your usual city/architectural images. Perhaps the softer light? Allows us to see and focus more on the patterns and details. Very nice.

I think Jeremy wants you to cr*p out the part that includes your copyright, so we can all claim that it is ours.   :D

It is a beautiful image. Purely on aesthetic considerations, the dark pieces of metal intruding on a striking pattern are annoying, but as a part of cityscape it works just fine.

Oh no; the bottom darkness both adds overall base strength as well as visual structure to support the right-hand side's additional avoirdupois. Beautifully balanced, IMO.

A metaphor for life itself? Life as a package - the bad with the good? Beauty and the beast? ;)

A great image, I would dare to say without the metal stairways the image would be too static/repetative and loose some impact.
