A Leap of Faith

It's always amazing to me that these guys get airborne seemingly without effort even though they mostly just fall off the limb to start.

Egrets know how to do that, Chris. Good shooting.

Could be, Rob but most men who fall off branches keep on falling.

At least Egrets have wingspans big enough so they look as if they should be able to fly.

I remember watching Puffins in Iceland taking off from the top of a cliff. They have short, stubby wings that don't look big enough. They fall off the edge of the cliff, wings flapping wildly, and drop about a hundred feet before leveling out. Fun to watch.

I understand that in spite of the stubby wings they can fly huge distances, and they can swim long distances under water, too.

Nice shot, Chris.
