Did per channel clipping warning change in ACR v7?
« on: April 01, 2016, 08:05:50 pm »

Julianne Kosts blog in March 2013 (ACR v5?) http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/tag/clipping-preview had the following overexposure clipping info.

If no values are clipped, the triangles are black.
If values are clipped in the red channel the triangles are red.
If values are clipped in the green channel the triangles are green.
If values are clipped in the blue channel the triangles are blue.
If values are clipped in the red + green channel the triangles are yellow.
If values are clipped in the red + blue channel the triangles are magenta.
If values are clipped in the green + blue channel the triangles are cyan

I don't see this in the current LRCC, as my triangles are either black or white - am I always clipping all channels or has this feature been dropped in LRCC?

I did not noticed this until I read your post. Then I toggled off and on the GPU and now it is back again showing the colors in the triangles

Works fine for me (Win 10, GPU on). If you hold down Alt/Opt and raise Whites, do you see partially clipped pixels in colors?

In my view, this method is just a rough guide and is useless for precise settings. I use the clipping views via the white and black controls, as well as the red and blue clipping indicators visible on the image itself. Sometimes it is necessary to view at high magnification.

Correct.

The actual spikes in the Histogram itself and it appears only in the OLDER non dark (spectrum) UI:

Bug, by new design? Not sure. The triangles don't as you point out, update the color clipping but the histogram does.
Edit: On Mac OS, with or without GPU acceleration on or off, I still see the triangles change color: set workflow to sRGB, move Tint/Temp to one end or the other. They light up in color.
