Who makes pentax 645 lenses ?
« on: March 27, 2016, 04:57:02 pm »

Does pentax have their own lens design arm or do they hire other lens manufacturers to re brand existing lenses for the pentax ? I heard that the full frame and APSC lenses are tamrons. Does anyone have more info on this ?

All the older film era 645 lenses were designed by Pentax.

I couldn't confirm that the digital 645 lenses are designed by Pentax, but I'd be close to 100% sure that they are.

Met with my local Pentax rep today.

Yes - all 645 Lenses have been designed and manufactured by Pentax/Ricoh.
He state only one 35mm lens is a Tamron.

The new Pentax 645-35mm lens is very similiar to the old lens but has been entirely rebuilt with tighter tolerances.
He's getting me one to do a comparison.
Should be fun!
