Capture One Styles
« on: March 24, 2016, 05:33:54 pm »

Mentioned a few weeks ago we have been hard at work on a Capture One Style Pack.

There is also a mini set of 10 available for free:
Free Capture One Styles

The coupon LL10 will get you 10% off.

Questions welcome!

This looks like fun, many thanks, especially for the detail of the thinking behind them, it will help in selecting suitable images.

I would of course love to try the free pack first but apparently I need to reside in a State of the U.S.A, can I just adopt a random state for those purposes or will my .uk e-mail give me away?
The Coupon is a generous gesture and appreciated.

By all means, adopt the state of your choice. I suggest Alaska. I went there to train a client on Capture One once. It was beautiful and not very crowded.

"Not very", do I detect an English touch of irony?
I was rather fancying scrolling all the way to Wyoming, I'll sleep on it, big decision, input appreciated, pity we are away over the holiday still, look forward to the return hopefully with some suitable RAWs.

Thanks for this. Great idea and I am sure quite a bit of work.   Descriptions are very helpful also.

Yes, Wyoming is very nice, even if I used to stay in Idaho.

Might I make a suggestion?

I always find that after purchasing such a pack, I only end up using very few of the Styles, mostly the ones I was interested right at the beginning and the rest is never used anyway.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to also sell the individual styles separately? This way you could select exactly the ones you want and you wouldn't end up with a bunch of Styles that you're never going to look at anyway.

edit: I would also suggest a complete list of all the styles in the pack :) Right now you have no idea what exactly you're buying, it says 137 styles but which ones they are (besides the free ones you generously supplied) is a mystery.

Thanks for your suggestions! At the end of this post I've listed each style at your request. Some of the names may be helpful to understand the range of the offerings; others are entirely abstract/separate from their effect and are probably not as helpful in the context of making a purchase decision.

I agree with you entirely that you'll only find a some of the styles suit your subject matter and aesthetics. That said, I don't think we'll be selling styles individually. The styles that don't suit your fancy can be moved to a folder marked "meh" (or deleted entirely if you desire more finality; though I'd personally suggest keeping them around as you may find yourself in a situation in the future where you might want to see if a particular image/need is well suited to a style you previous abhorred). Finding out which styles are well suited to you is not something I think is easy to do in advance even with a ton of previews or before/after. You really have to try them on your images, which is why I think it's best to provide a large and wide ranging set of styles and allow you to cull them down based on actual hands on time.

We are working on a larger gallery of before/after showing a wider range of the styles. If you are interested in buying but are on the fence we would be glad to offer a 50% discount in exchange for providing one or two images before/after applying whatever you discover to be your favorite style or two. PM me for more details. They would be displayed with a link to your website and your watermark if you desire (I would entirely understand if such a discount is not considered sufficient payment for use of your images!)

Sadly no. But you got me to crack a smile, so I've added LL11 for 11% off for those that read all the way down to here.
