Hacker Attack
« on: May 14, 2006, 02:27:44 pm »

There was a hacker attack in the forum this morning, and in the process of evicting the culprit a thread on RGB-CMYK was deleted.

I'm afraid that it can't be rebuilt.

Those that participated are invited to try and put the material up again.

These recent spam and hacker attacks are coming from Rumania. Curious.

Sorry to hear about it. Maybe they're feeling left out of your expedition circuit?

Unfortunately, Rumania is climbing on the lists of sources of crackers, phishers and other cyber criminals.

In my line of business (web hosting, domain name registration and services) we see attacks like that weekly, often more frequently, and the favorite attack vectors are discussion forums, web publishing systems and contact/email scripts, most often PHP based.

There's usually nothing personal about such attacks, they're just after yet another host to either brag about or to use as the springboard for their next attacks.

There is also a strong correlation between spammers and these attacks.
