DPI vs Ink (Epson)

Lets just assume I can see the difference between 1440 and 5760 without a magnifying glass (Even then it may be placebo) :)

Has anyone done a comparison of ink utilisation between the two resolutions? Is it minor or significant or is the biggest effect of using the 5760 mode print speed reduction?
