Durability of NEC PA272W
« on: March 13, 2016, 11:26:41 am »

Question strictly for owners of NEC PA272W: Can you speak to the durability / longevity / reliability of this particular monitor?  How long have you had it? Anyone had one they had to return for any reason and why?

Thanks

Actually, yesterday was my 1st birthday w/ the 272 :D

NO problems whatsoever and I can say the same as my previous 241.  NEC support is really very good, had an issue where I stupidly broke the stand of the 241 and they simply said 'no problem, we'll send you a complete new one'.

I dont recall offhand the # of hours but it's not a little and not a lot, maybe 1200-1500?  I love the instant stability of the LED backlight.

I have a 271W.  It's been trouble-free for several years. Superb display.

Recently, I had some difficulty calibrating (a software issue) and NEC responded here with instant help and resolved my issue.

Highly recommended.

I have mine about a year and had no issue up to now. It is calibrated with BasiColor and Spyder 4 and works fine.

Eizo user here…
I’ve bought one of the first affordable wide gamut displays in October 2009… an Eizo CG241W. Back then lots of people feared the luminance performance and the gamut of wide gamut TFTs will suffer sooner rather than later.
Now, I am using this very display since 6.5 years. It counts 18662 hours and the uniformity is almost as new. At 100cd/m2 the gamut is still something like 90% AdobeRGB (see attachment - grey = AdobeRGB / wireframe = monitor profile).
From time to time I thought about replacing it with a more recent IPS panel display. But this monitor simply gives me no reason to replace it yet …

Since the panel technology of NEC and Eizo monitors is very similar I think you will have fun with your monitor for a long time.
Enjoy! :-)

Over two years and 10,500 hours.  No problems.  Versatile, dependable, capable.  A delight to use.

I still using a PA241 with 10,550 hours on it and it is perfect. This one is a refurb warranty replacement. The original developed a screen problem after about a year. Exchange was painless. That exchange was almost 5 years ago.

I have a P221W with 19,119 hours on it and it still renders colors perfectly and I have not seen any degradation in the measurements following calibration with SpectraView.  I suppose I should upgrade to a larger monitor one of these days but as long as this one is still performing it doesn't seem necessary.
