Epson SureColor P-7000 Issues
« on: March 04, 2016, 01:53:45 am »

Greetings everyone,

I am having a serious issue with my printer. Only 1 in every 5 prints, or less, prints normally.

I own the newest Epson Surecolor P-7000 Standard Edition 24” Printer.

I have had issues plaguing me since Day 1 with this model. I generally run an Ethernet Cable into my Apple Router (latest model), but I tried direct plug into computer (2013 Mac Pro Trashcan 8-Core, 96GB RAM) just in case it was a network issue. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the driver.

Here are the two issues:

Print stops printing. Print Que indicates “Communication Error.” Printer LCD says “Printing.” Print Head moves to start position and parks.
-It will sit like this until the end of time. I have to cancel the job and start over.

Printer resizes image on its own. I’ll have a 21” wide by 27” long print sent to the printer, but it prints at 12-13” wide.
-There are roller marks where the rest of the print should be, silly I know, but like it knows it’s being naughty. The full image is printed however, just in the wrong dimensions.

My question is, what do you guys think is happening here? I’m thinking an issue with the Drivers. Could it be hardware? I’m at a loss. I’m speaking directly with Epson tomorrow but wanted to see if you guys have had similar issues or know of a fix.

I’d love to be called an idiot and told “look, you didn’t check that box in the whatever folder dummy.”

Thanks all!

I've a P7000 here at the moment for review, and running from Macs I'm not seeing any issues.

I have seen network issues with another printer which turned out to be a cable that just wasn't that happy with GB ethernet.

Also have you tried with a USB connection - I will often use this for connection to my MacBook Pro.

Also, if it has a HD installed, try selecting print after download is finished.

Just a few things you might or might not have tried?

Thank you Keith! I have not tried a USB connection. Ordered the cable so maybe that's a fix! Thanks so much!

Driver or cable. Make sure to use the supplied usb cable.
If the up cable is a cause try set the ip communicatie to 10bit synchroniseren on the port setting (assuming it now set to auto or 1gb)
I have a 7000 via network connected and in use since december without a connection hitch.

I've had a similar issue with an Epson StylusPro7900 in Boston. My printer was connected via an ethernet cable to a network with a MacPro and another Epson printer. After several attempts I was able to reach a knowledgeable Epson tech.  He suggested I set "Processed by Printer" to Off in the printer settings in the SystemPreferences...
Select the appropriate printer from SystemPreferences->Printers&Scanners.
Click on Options&Supplies
Click on Options
Set "Processed by Printer" to Off

This resolved the problem.  Since then, I've switched to an Epson P7000, and have "Processed by Printer" set OFF. I've not had any problem.  I hope this helps.

I spoke with Espon today, and we were able to solve the issue. So far, at least, everything is running well. I installed the printer as "bonjour." Bonjour doesn't talk to Epson drivers well, so we reinstalled as TCP/IP. As it turned out, the issue seemed to be an oversight on my part, but not something I'd think would be an issue considering Epson's advice is to install using Apple Bonjour. At any rate, thanks for the help everyone. I appreciate it. I hope this issue is resolved finally. On paper, the Epson P-7000 is not setup for network compatibility. It works though, as does my 3880.
Thanks again.
