View a reference photo while editing another - LR 5.7
« on: February 19, 2016, 08:31:19 pm »

Is there a way to view a separate file (image I'm using for a reference) alongside another file I'm editing in Develop mode?
Thank you.

Hi,

There is a way to accomplish this with LR's secondary display. It works better if you have two monitors, but you can use this technique also with only one monitor.

- Activate the secondary display (Window -> Secondary Display -> Show  or F11) and display the reference image
- Click on "locked" on the upper right in the secondary display
- Go back to the main display and work on the image you want to edit in the Develop module.

The reference image will stay locked in the secondary display, where you can zoom and move if necessary.

When you have only one monitor you can toggle between main and secondary with the F11 key (at least in Windows, don't know about OSX)
