Mesquite Lake
« on: February 12, 2016, 07:13:42 am »

I'm sure everybody who's been to the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley has seen these clay plates and some may wonder what they are. Well, they're remains of an ancient lake bed. I took this one last September.

I'll be heading there again this evening to do one last weekend of shooting before the temperatures become unpleasant and the light gets too harsh.

I love it! The intense blue sky and the sand/clay give a very Jurassic Park look. The low point of view (along with a wide angle lens) helps to isolate the dunes from the surrounding mountains.
Good job!

Very nice shot! Love the color contrast and the way the sand fills the space between the rocks. The symmetric mountains in the distance are great too. Good stuff.

Looks like a pleasant day on Mars. This is unusual landscape, at least to me. Thanks for showing this!

It's Death Valley. Mars is still on my "to do" list. ;)
