Expiration date on Epson 3800 inks

I was told by a dealer that inks still in the original boxes, sealed in the plastic envelope are no good after an expiration date.  My experience disputes that. Am I uninformed?

No. Your dealer just wants to sell more ink carts.

After running out of one ink several years ago in the middle of a print, having no spare, late on a Friday of a three-day weekend when I wouldn't be able to get a spare until Tuesday, I started keeping two complete sets of spares around.

I have used cartridges that were at least two or three years -- maybe more-- past date with no problem whatever. Even if the change is in the middle of a print, I can't see where the old cart ended and the new one started once the print is finished.

ditto.  I think I still have 1-2 2011 carts and they are fine.  Shake 'em up (gently) every now and then.

thanks for the replies.  I normally print b/w and did not have a clue about color.

I have recently used ink from 2010 and no issues, as mentioned just shake them up first
