"...a desire to conduct discussion in a courteous manner without resort to personal comments about the poster..." (Nelsonretreat)

What happened to that desire of yours?

Portraying me as a "policeman" isn't a personal comment? And your sarcasm isn't an evasive maneuver to avoid addressing "reasoned arguments" that you apparently value so highly?

Slobodan, give up: he started digging in Ireland and has already reached New Zealand; where the hell else can the poor guy go? The tunnel is almost completed. No, it is complete.

I think you missed the bit where I said " I give up! You win" There is no need to kick me when I'm down!

I promise I will never again have the audacity to critique the work of any photographer of the standing of Mr. Testino or Ms. Liebowitz. I know I said that some of Ms Liebowitz's work was outstanding in my article but I recognise now that it was unforgivable to critique even one of her images. Further I accept Mr C. charge that I 'attacked' them 'for no apparent good reason'  I really don't know what came over me to make such an attack.

To further reassure you of my good conduct I will never again express any opinion that is contrary to one held by you or Mr C. To quote the words of Mr C. I haven't a 'friggin clue'. As he has photographed Miss Bardot I recognise that only he is qualified to speak about celebrity photography. It was presumptios of me to utter a word in this specialist area. He is quite right to infer that someone who snaps landscape has no business making critiques of celebrity photography.

And for those who went to my original article (the actual topic supposedly of this thread)I would also like to apologise for subjecting them to a 'tirade' as you put it. It was unforgivable of me to express my opinions in such an immoderate way that they became a tirade. I will be careful not to lose control in any future articles. On rereading it, I recognise just how offensive and outrageous it was.  I think Mr C. may have been right when he suggested  that what I wrote was prompted by envy. I am ashamed of myself.

This thread has come to the end of its natural life but I wondered if some fun might be had in a new topic area. Mr Slobodan referred to my sarcasm. What about a thread discussing the distinctions between irony, sarcasm and invective and insult?  Food for thought eh?
