Indeed. I like the first very much: the second is spoiled by the expanse of wholly uninteresting sky.

I agree with Jeremy, the first is an excellent image. The second lacks drama due to the uniform sky.

The second picture seems very nice.

A clear sky is a rare occurrence where I live and so it is easy to enjoy it as something special. I also enjoy how the clarity of the air preserves the detail so that viewers can appreciate the scale of the subject. The conifer trees are easy to discern and they provide a reference which conveys the distance and magnitude that occupies the frame.

I'm also not a fan of a sky void of clouds but figured what the heck.

I'm with Jeremy, too. I love a good "action" sky like the first.

I'm 50/50 on the lack of action sky in color, but in B&W, with that much sky, I would probably add something to it. Perhaps a slight gradient going from nothing to 1 stop darker at the top? I do that a lot to help lead the viewer's eye down the sky into the mountains. You'll have to play a bit to find just the right amount of gradient.

Also, both pictures are awesome, and make me miss real mountains.....
