More praise for Olympus customer service.
« on: January 27, 2016, 09:55:56 am »

I reported a while back that one of the strap lugs on my E-M1 came off and the camera fell onto a sidewalk, denting the body and cracking the LCD screen. Even though the camera was well out of warranty, Olympus fixed it for no charge. Bravo!

I’ll also add that I recently had the collapsible lens hoods for both my 12-40 Pro and 40-150 Pro lenses come apart. They were under extended warranty, but I thought I might get some push back about rough handling or something, but all I got was courtesy and very prompt replacements for no charge.

That's why I asked, always heard good things about them. Polyphoto in Italy is also very good with customers, even better if you go through a store with direct contacts with support. I think Olympus is winning a lot in customer care and satisfaction more than trying to make "the best camera ever".

Disappointingly I had two faults over a year or so with my EM-1 - as detailed in earlier posts here on LuLa.  A rear control wheel that gradually stopped responding, and then more recently a body strap-lug that pulled out of the body.  Neither fault should have occurred, and in 14 years alone of many digital cameras from Canon and Panasonic I have never had another mechanical fault (professional use too).  However I cannot fault the speed of service - just a few days from collecting camera to having it returned.
