Hi.

I had just serviced my trusty z3100...,installed a new carriage assembly and trailing cable, cleaned the service station, the right sided fan and the rest of the machine.
Finally i lubricated the rail and reassembled the printer. It was no big deal, in fact kinda fun. :)

I'm now in the process of going through the service calibrations steps and encountering some problems...

The first thing that confuse me is when i'm entering the "Service Calibrations Menu" and trying to start a calibration, i'm getting the followig message :
"Please, go to the Diagnostics Carriage Assembly /Scan Axis...etc..".

So, i did a reboot, entered the Diagnostic mode and started the Carriage Assembly Diagnostics.
Volt readings are OK, Line Sensor readings are OK, Service Station tests are OK,
but the Color Sensor tests gives me that ERROR: "58:11 / Fail DeltaE out of limits. 92.000 > 8".
Thats strange because the "Color Sensor ESP diagnostics" are OK and the Colorimeter ( new one ) semms to work fine. So i guess its a nasty software bug!?
I did the test with glossy and matte media but getting the same error.

Next one is the "Cutter Test". Hangs on "Starting Nvm". But the cutter works absolutly fine in Printer Modus. Bug?

And the last one really bugs me. "Paper Advance Calibration". Error : "Paper detected (2000) is not ( HP, 2001) type". LoL.
The Media loaded is "HP Photo Glossy". Don't know if it's 2001 or 2000 type. Who cares? The Printer? How??

Firmware version is R12-7.0.0.3-7. Thats the most recent one i think.
Is it possible that the firmware ist corrupt and is there a way to overwrite / reset the firmware?
I tried updating the same/latest firmware via the HP Utility but getting the error message " ressource not found".

Being thankful for any help from your side!

Rico

I don't know about the other errors, but I can tell you for sure the color sensor error is ALWAYS there. I really could not believe it at first when I had to run the tests after a carriage replacement, but it is true. The error is there even if you run the test on a brand new printer. Just ignore it and see if the printer works. I would bet the other errors are like this as well.

Geraldo is spot on Rick.  It's a known bug in the program.

Just move past it and continue with the other tests and start printing.

The paper advance calibration is important when changing to a lighter or heavier paper, or when the printer tells you it needs it.  Go to Paper Calibration in image maintenance (I think) from the front panel, and it will say "recommended".

I do a paper advance calibration each time I do a new paper profile  or load a new paper, just to be on the safe side.

HP recommends it when the printer recommends it.

Just do it and you should be fine.
