I've never been a huge fan of tethering with Lightroom and 90% of the time, don't tether at all because of speed. (I only tether for studio shoots, and usually only at the request of clients.)
Recently, I was shooting a small job and thought I'd give Lightroom/tether another shot. Wow, was that a mistake. After shooting for about 10 minutes, Lightroom, gagged on the files and died. It takes 3 or 4 times as long to transfer a file compared to Canon's Utility or a nifty program called DSLRemote from Breezesys. I think the problem is that Lightroom is trying to process the files as they come in and gets overwhelmed. It's fine for still-life, but shooting continuously 50MP files seems to strangle LR.
Anyone else encountered this and perhaps found a way around it?
