On Epson's website for these products they say: "Ink repellant surface coating for reduced nozzle clogging". That is the only information I could find. At the same time, it has to be said that much of what passes for "clogging" isn't. Those gaps in the nozzle checks can be often caused by ink droppages and air in the works rather than actual nozzle clogs. The corrective action has been the same with previous models: pushing ink through with cleaning cycles. My experience with Epson professional printers 2000P/4000/4800/3800/4900 over the past 15 years indicates that how a printer behaves over time in respect of clean or unclean nozzle checks whatever the cause is best known only after a period of some usage.
