Yup.

And please note that I don't try to make the claim that selfies (the term itself a reduction of "self portrait") are art, or aren't art, just that it's something that is eminently understandable.

I also skipped this point, but I think it's a nice tongue-in-cheek comment to the entire discussion:

Renoir and other famous painters were apparently enamoured by selfies. And they used sticks to do it.

What I don't really understand is the idea to take picture of oneself. I never take pictures of myself. If I did, I would not know what to do with them.
