Storage for boxes of paper?
« on: December 26, 2015, 08:32:04 pm »

Any suggestions storage racks, bookcases, etc for storing boxes of unused paper.
Paper size up to 17x22
I understand that paper is best stored flat.

Currently considering a wire shelving rack, inexpensive and easy to assemble.

Would appreciate any ideas.

You haven’t registered a location in your profile, and that would make an incredible difference to replies.

In the US I would suggest a flat file system or archival boxes:

Wire shelving should work and it is relatively easy to set up.  Although I don't use them to store paper, I do have several sets of wire shelves loaded with boxes full of books and they are definitely strong enough.  I don't know what size paper you are using but I would recommend the 24" deep variety which is ideal for 17x22" paper.  This looks like a good choice from Amazon:

Personally, I use Ikea shelving in my office to store paper.  However, the last time I went I was unable to find the 23" deep shelving I had purchased previously.  Still, it is worth looking into if there is one close to you.

I just use the closet wire shelving stuff (w/ adj standards) in a room alcove that you get at Home Depot/Lowes.  You'll want to have a support every linear 12" otherwise it can get saggy.

Those chrome 'bread racks' are also good.

Another +1 for the HD wire storage rack with adjustable standards. Take a $%^ of weight and with large rubber casters, easily moved. If need to cut shorter for ceilings or to put inside a closet, use a simple plumber's (copper) pipe cutter. Keep paper in boxes and inside their plastic bags to keep as flat and scuff/dust free as possible.
