In contrast to almost every other kind of computing device, in all my years of printing I can't recall ever updating firmware on one of my inkjet printers.  Drivers, sure.  But not the firmware.

Couldn't agree more that Epson and the other manufacturers should provide more info on what's in a firmware release... why we should bother.

Despite the lack of transparency concerning the content of the firmware upgrade, I think it makes sense to install them anyhow, especially after a new product has been on the market for some months, as is the case for new printer models. Updates are usually issued to address bugs and/or improvements found necessary from users' operational experience reported to the company.

Despite Epson do not report about their firmware updates, I think that adds value to the product the firmware updates.

In this sense I appreciate the Epson effort.
