Forgotten lenses
« on: December 13, 2015, 06:52:58 pm »

I was looking through my drawer and see that I have:
Schneider Symmar S 210mm/5.6 MC
Rodenstock Sironar N 210mm/5.6 MC
Rodenstock Marco Sironar 210mm/5.6 MC

I certainly don't need all these....
I have and use a 180 HM Apro Macro as a goto lens for closeup.

I was wondering how these lenes match up in comparison if I didn't have the 180?

I think the Macro Sironar N 210mm would be the next sharpest?

The Macro 210 takes a Copal3 , and that has some issues with cocking the shutter and I need it repaired or replaced.
Wondering if anyone here does that type of work?

The Symmar-S and the Sironar-N should deliver equal quality, you'd be hard pressed to find any difference. The only real difference is the coverage, the Schneider has 294mm vs the 286mm of the Rodenstock.

Yes, the macro should be slightly better for macro photography - but it's quite cumbersome to work with, you have to swap around the elements according to a specific diagram for various ratios and that slows you down a lot.

I'd suggest you make some comparisons yourself, then you can decide for yourself which lens better suits your needs.

Thanks, yes I did that some time ago and thats why I use the 180.

I need to fix the Copal3 on the other makro,  Maybe I shall post again with the request, but if anyone knows of a repair place(I can google myself), it would be good.

Flutot's is generally well-regarded for shutter repairs.
