Suggestion: Dedicated color mangement forum on LL
« on: April 17, 2006, 05:37:26 pm »

Since the Rob Galbraith forums are closed, my guess is that many regulars/visitors from RG will move to these forums.

The color management forum on Rob Galbraith was pretty good. Over here, the threads on color management topics are mainly scattered over 'Digital Image Processing' and 'Printers, Papers and Inks' forums.

Why not create a dedicated color management forum here?

What do you think?

Hi Herman,

There are so many fora that need to be addressed!

It is an issue that MR will face when he returns.

I concur.

For real.

But RG say they are about to be bought by somebody. Plus - I don't think this forum is indexed by Google (not sure about this) - so information may not get into the open the way it does on RG and Photo.net.

Yes, Serge, that's true.

However, I felt very much bitten when there was, without notice, except for a flurry of firings, the largest pro forum closed. The way in is only via doing a search to gain access to the fora heads and then find what you want.

I would rather have several things available. So Uwe has opened a new PRINT FORUM at his site and that is good since it is what he, himself spends a lot of effort on.

A popular Pro color forum here would be another milestone.

I'll be so happy to see RG get back on line, but the trauma of mass firing/departures of key contributors and then abrupt closure, means we are too dependant on one major venue.

RG's forum was massive as a task to run. Especially if one want's to have controls.

So, for me at least, I want to see Michael and Uwe's sites get more traffic. That way we get more health in the system!

What do others think?

Can you make it available to Google indexing? I think it's a big deal. It may make the forum feel less professional (eventually it will be anyway as it gets more popular) and in need of heavier moderation but it would put the information out there. The consensus that is reached on the forum would influence the public knowledge in general.

[edit] Plus, you'd get more traffic....

There's also a new color management forum on Digital Outback Photo.
