Did you try paper advance calibration?  I've had this issue when switching from one batch to another on occasion.

The paper's forward curl is likely interfering with advancement. Manually advance a few "arrow pushes" after the paper has loaded, assisting if needed, and then send you print. This became my norm for all 3200 prints, particularly towards the end of the roll of coated papers.

Go into the paper menu - use the up/down arrow keys to move paper forward or reverse.

It should be under "move paper" under the paper  menu if I remeber correctly.

Yes, Mark is right. I believe" Move Paper is the panel label for jogging the paper manually forward or backward on the paper path. You just need to get the leading edge of the paper, where the forward curl is creating an obstruction "over the curb." Would surprise me if this is not your problem.

The real problem probably is the switch in the media insert slit. If the paper curl allows enough space the lever of the switch can go upwards and the printer does not "feel" the loaded media anymore. A slightly longer lever could solve that, maybe a thin tube pushed over it is enough. Have to check whether it can still flip forward and backwards then.

Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst

David,

My Z3200 has never been able to properly advance 300gsm roll papers.  The paper stops with about a quarter inch visible in front of the rollers; the paper gets "stuck" as it encounters the ribs of the plastic housing of the felt pads.  My inconvenient solution for dealing with these heavier papers is to use a small spatula under that quarter inch of exposed paper and carefully put an upward curl into the front edge of the paper so it won't get caught on the plastic ribs.  Then I use the move paper command to advance the paper an inch or two before printing.  Once the print is done and cut you need to repeat the process for the next print.  That's why my favorite paper is 190 gsm Entrada which handles without problems.

If anyone knows of a way to adjust the "grip" of the paper advance rollers I'd love to know it.
