ipf8400 gloss differential-proof lustre paper?
« on: November 29, 2015, 01:25:58 pm »

hey folks. I've been happily printing away on Kodak Pro Lustre and not paying attention to what's new and lovely in papers. is there an e-surface style paper that has better control over the gloss differential/unprinted areas these days? I want something that feels like a "traditional" photo, no baryta/matte/etc. These are prints that are delivered as just prints and I don't want anyone saying "that's an inkjet not a photo." I don't care to have the arguement or do the educating and better gamut/life or not the gloss differential is displeasing to the eye.

options that don't require me to buy a new printer or start spraying 8x10s?

I think by nature of pigment inks which sit on top of RC coated paper, there is simply no way around this.  About the only thing I've read, but not tested, is to change any areas that have no ink laid down since they are 255,255,255, in terms of RGB values, and perhaps make it just a tad darker, to about 252,252,252.  Fairly easy to do in photoshop, but of course requires work for each image.
