An odd composition?
« on: November 04, 2015, 02:40:55 pm »

I have to admit that this is a bit of a strange composition. Taken at the beach in Hanalei Kauai, near the pier. No water, no sand; what was I thinking? The tree called out to me; I couldn't help myself.

Actually a very good composition.

Only a very minor nit - could this image be a bit over sharpened?

Nonetheless I think a large print would look great - well done.

I guess you weren't thinking, but probably feeling, or seeing  ;D, and rightly so, very strong, compelling image, a winner.
Agree with Tony that it has an ever so slightly oversharpened look, not problematic, yet visible imo.

As it is a fine image. It looks like fine detail to me rather than over sharpened, I like the composition.

I really appreciate the encouraging words about this image. I also really appreciate the polite questioning about whether or not the image is over sharpened. The answer is, I am not really sure about that. The capture was made with the Olympus E-M1 and their 12-40 zoom lens. In an effort to provide lots of sharp detail, I used a focus stacking technique. At the end of pp on the stacked TIFF, I am pretty sure that it was not oversharpened. My thoughts get a little blurry when considering the jpg conversion and the resampling that is applied when the image is served  up by my web provider.

Love it! Composition works very well, making the eyes wander around and explore without leading me out of the frame.
The textures are wonderful. Nice work!

Very nice. It looks like an illustration you might find in a very old book.
