Under idea circumstances this lens will deliver 3000 pixels per inch which on 8x10 is 24,000 x 30,000 pixels (actually closer to 23500 x 28500 after margins) so ~ 670 megapixels after drum scanning. Yes it is a lot for a lens but it is much cheaper then a digital back will hold its value well and if you are not shooting hundreds or thousands of images a year then it will be cheaper then the long run even after film/processing, ect.
