Is something wrong with my color mangement? FIXED!!
« on: October 26, 2015, 04:19:23 pm »

all looks ok in Lightroom CC, but on facebook and dropbox the facial colors look red saturated as JPEGS with an embedded color profile.  I went to that Ballard site and it said my firefox browser was color managed.  Does below photo look reddish here also?

yes, it looks reddish to me in Firefox.  What gives?
This is with negative 17 vibrance and red saturation minus 5 and orange minus 10 (red/orange accomplished with brush pull back)

Here looks ok/natural in both FireFox and Photoshop.
If want to give a small bit of "tanned look", try Photoshop Selective Color

I viewed it in Chrome and Firefox on a Mac.  Same and natural in both.

Then why do my LR and Firefox viewing not match; I assume something is setup wrong on my color management workflow?

And what should my settings be on this Windows 10 screen?

Don't touch the Advanced screen. There's nothing there that ever needs to be changed.

Check your monitor profile and recalibrate. V4? LUT? Try something else. If color managed software display differently, it's usually the monitor profile.

Also using Dell Ultrasharp Calibration Solution, here are the settings as I go to calibrate/profile:

Hm, that all looks fine. You haven't enabled v4 profiles in Firefox, but the Dell software is set to v2 anyway (and that's what you should use). And table-based profiles is also the safe choice.

You don't happen to have a dual monitor setup, with Firefox on the secondary screen? That's the one thing Firefox doesn't handle. It will use the primary display profile regardless.

Wait wait wait....brain blackout there, sorry.

Table-based (aka LUT) - that's it right there, I bet. Firefox doesn't handle those well. Set the Dell software to make matrix profiles.

LUT profiles are supposedly more accurate, but also much heavier and more complex. I'm having issues myself with Colornavigator LUT profiles in Firefox.

Eureka!! that's it!  Changing to matrix based profiles fixed the problem..  Thank you so much... I never would have thought of changing that parameter because I knew LUT based were more accurate...

Thank you again, D Fosse... I owe ya one!

You're welcome  :)

Apparently this can take many forms. What I see here, with LUT profiles and Firefox, is excessive black clipping from level 6 or 7. Other than that the colors are correct. Photoshop and Lightroom both handle LUT profiles without problems here, but other people have seen banding issues in Lightroom.

I've stopped using LUT altogether, just to be on the safe side. The problem is that it's the default in ColorNavigator, so every time I set up a new target I have to remember to go in and change it.
