Interesting discussion regarding Canon raw processing
« on: October 26, 2015, 02:28:05 pm »

In a few words: most (almost all?) RAW processors do a rubbish job of pushing Canon raw files, because they're making a basic error. Don't make the error, and the output is much nicer, albeit not as good as what we get from sensors with inherently more dynamic range i.e. Sony.

The "edits" are essential reading, especially the link pointed to by #7.

If this is all true, I have to wonder why Canon didn't tap on the shoulder the gurus behind the big raw processors and give them a big fat hint about how to improve their processing.
