Moonrise Sunset: Idaho
« on: October 25, 2015, 07:25:50 pm »

The storm that popped up on my last day at Grand Teton National Park washed away all the smoke, but it came a little late for me. I was on my way home. However, it was great news for Idaho. And the clearing storm, coupled with the rising moon that evening, generated some inviting photo opportunities in that state.

Funny you mention AA. I immediately thought of his book "the making of 40 images" where he states "the moon shined with conviction"
Fantastic job Arlen!

Beautiful! I always found very difficult to put the Moon in the frame and have a natural, pleasing image and you succeeded perfectly.

Thanks everyone. Your comments are much appreciated.

As for AA, I'm pretty sure he would disavow any association with my efforts. But I can claim one similarity, in the way that he described happening upon the scene where he captured the famous Moonrise, Hernandez New Mexico image:  "We were sailing southward along the highway not far from Espanola when I glanced to the left and saw an extraordinary situation – an inevitable photograph! I almost ditched the car and rushed to set up my 8×10 camera."

That's almost exactly what happened to me here, including noticing the scene over my left shoulder, and screeching to a quick halt on the side of the road. No ponderous 8x10 camera to set up, though; just my little Oly EM-1.
