Comparing Epson P6000 & P7000
« on: October 22, 2015, 02:48:12 am »

I’m going to buy the new Epson SureColor P6000 or P7000. I need to print bigger and these models seem to promise what the P800 has delivered on…deeper blacks, modest gamut increase, etc, as well as some other nice features.  Having looked at the specs and read the articles, can someone enlighten me as to what the significant differences are between the two? Is it as straightforward as two additional inks? I know that is no small thing, but this is my first foray into larger format. I’m coming from the 3880, so I’m not sure how much more quality comes with that extra cash (cash on more ink to be sure). Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much everyone.

Best regards,
JB

Just received the Epson SC-P8000. Will come with well researched findings soon. Initial findings: Dmax about 15% more than 4900 or 9900. Sofar quick and dirty test on a glossy pe-paper 255 gr/m2 and on hahnemuhle photo rag baryta 315gr/m2.
Testprint via ACPU (no colormanagment) looks to give a more linear result on the gray ramp (51 step as used in QTR).
Will demonstrate this printer on a show in The Netherlands (www.fineartprintingspecialist.nl, www.fotografisch-almere.nl)

You'd better wait for the new Canon iPF PRO models before you make decision ;)
