Spectraview not communicating with monitor
« on: October 18, 2015, 04:01:58 pm »

Posting this in case anyone has this same issue and finds their way here through a search of the forums or through something like a google search. Needed a new computer and decided to "build" my own. Using a Gigabyte motherboard, latest intel 6th generation chip, NVidia 900 series graphics card, on windows 10. Got passed the point of getting the operating system set up so one of the first applications I installed was NEC spectraview. When it opened, I got an error message that it could not communicated with the monitor. Found my way to a post from this forum from like 5 years ago which suggested to uninstall the NVidia drivers (I went into the control panel and uninstalled about 5 NVidia programs), reboot and let windows find the native NVidia drivers.

Worked for me! Opened spectraview and everything was good to go.

Without the NVIDIA drivers your video card would not be operating correctly.  I would contact NEC to see what the issue is.  I vaguely recall some issue with Windows 10 and Spectraview so it could be that rather than the video driver.  I did a new build three months ago with a brand new GTX 960 and Windows 8.1.  There was no problem at all running Spectraview.

I think you misunderstand. There is a n Vidia driver, the one that gets installed automatically by windows. When I originally installed the whole driver package from the nVidia site that is when i had a problem. I uninstalled that, rebooted, for a moment I had an uh oh moment when the screen turned low resolution, then it snapped into high resolution as it continued the boot into windows which is probably when the graphics card and the windows nvidia drive found each other. As soon as I got to the desktop, spectraview loaded and connected with the monitor; no error messages that couldn't connect with monitor or graphics card. I was able to calibrate; don't think I would have been able to do that if Spectraview couldn't communicate with both driver graphics driver and monitor.

I had a similar issue with my 2690WUXI2 and a Nvidia 970. I didn't specifically work on that isssue, but it went away when I had the computer apart for a tuneup. That involved removing the video card, rearranging the SSD drives and reassembling. I also added a PA 272W at the same time, so the monitor cable were unplugged and reconnected several times and to different ports on the video card. When I put it all back together, no more communication problem with the monitor.
