Samsung LCD?
« on: March 30, 2006, 01:24:42 am »

Due to a rapidly fading Sony 21" G520 I am considering purchase of either of these 2 monitors. The Samsung 204TS with a brightness of 300cd/m2 & contrast of700:1, or the Samsung 244T with a brightness of 400 cd/m2 and contrast of 1000:1. Either would be calibrated with a Colorvision spider and Optical software. Would one of these be better than the other for colour correction? Are either of these even suitable? I would obviously prefer the larger monitor as colour correction is not the only use for it (client presentations would be much more impressive on the bigger screen), but would it be too bright/contrasty? Is anyone using this screen for accurate colour work? I know the Eizo or NEC may have the edge, but that's not an option here.

All opinions gratefully received!

You may want to take a look at the new Eizo CE240W.  It has most of the features of the ir higher priced monitors.  I'm awaitng a review since I am also considering the Samsung 244T.  It's about $150-200 more than the Samsung.
