Sunken spaceship
« on: October 11, 2015, 01:34:20 pm »

On the shores of Loch Scavaig lies Elgol, a remote and small village set in a beautiful position facing Sgurr Alasdair, the highest peak of the Black Cuillin range and of the Isle of Skye. Elgol's bay is one of my most loved locations on Skye, one that never fails to inspire me with its dramatic and always changing landscapes. A half submerged, colossal boulder reminded me of a sunken spaceship: the clouds hanging over Sgurr Alasdair completed the otherworldly feeling of this image.

A very striking image. I particularly like the two dark clouds over the central mountain.

The background would make for a very compelling image in itself.

Wonderful. Dark moody....just like the Talisker malts from Skye.

Moody doesn't go far enough to describe your photo. I'm just waiting for Smaug to appear over the far mountains ;). BTW, are those lenticular clouds to the right of that far peak?

Thank you stamper, and thank you for mentioning the dram: after tonight's dinner a Talisker will be great.

Thank you Bob! :D The clouds have actually been "lenticularised", so to speak, by the long exposure. They were just regular clouds in the real world... ;)

The rocks echo the "lenticularized" clouds very nicely.

Thank you very much Dmullins, I am glad my image inspired you! That's IMHO the best we can aspire to with our work, so thank you very much again.

Thank you very much Cem, I am glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you Mike, I though the layered composition with the "spaceship" echoed by the clouds and separated by Sgurr Alasdair in between them would work in this image, and I am glad you enjoyed it as well - thanks!

I really like this! Glad to see you post here, Vieri!

thank you very much Nancy, It's good to be here!

Thanks again everyone for your time and comments, best
