Folly Sunset
« on: October 10, 2015, 04:51:30 pm »

Yesterday, I was at the beach trying to get some photos of waves on the shore. While I was shooting, I noticed the sky light up behind me, and I had to scramble to get to get into position. Luckily, I was able to get a few frames. Any comments or critiques are appreciated.

Richard this image looks to be potential gold.

My personal thoughts on this would be to boost overall exposure just a bit but also to try to increase the definition of the wooden walkway in the foreground.
To me this would bring the whole image alive - for now it is just a bit too muted.

There are some fabulous judges of image aesthetics on this forum so lets see what others say.

I pretty much agree with Tony.
I would keep the sky about as it is, but lighten up the foreground a little, increasing local contrast (clarity) in the lower parts to bring out the walkway.

Lovely sky and nice composition.  The changes have helped; I'd probably lighten very slightly more overall and bring blacks down/whites up just a touch as well.  Looks nice blown up on screen but the thumbnail looks a bit muted still (always a tell-tale sign for me that I've gone too conservative!).
