Scneider/Rodenstock to Contax 645 adapter
« on: March 28, 2006, 11:29:34 am »

I have had good experience with Hasselblads on Contax 645, does anyone make an adapter to use the Schneider Digitars or Rodenstock HR on the Contax mount?

Regards and Thanks

Sounds tricky.

Firstly you'd have to get these lenses in a focusing mount. Not an impossible hurdle, but it adds significantly to the cost.

Secondly you'd have to have sufficient back focus to clear the mirror. Maybe possible with the longer lenses but I doubt the standard or wide lenses would offer sufficient clearance. Still, Rodenstock and Schneider both have very detailed spec sheets on their web sites so you should be able to see from these what might work and what won't.

Yes, focusing would be a problem. You might try mounting the lenses to the Contax 645 bellows unit.

Zoerk (www.zoerk.de) might be able to made an adapter to suit your needs, and may also have a focssing mount you can use.  It might be easier to use a high quality enlarging lens -- fitting an L39 screw mount to the 645 via an adapter might be a lot easier.
