Dmax on Epson wide printers
« on: October 09, 2015, 07:13:58 am »

I need to print, for a friend, a 40x30 inch image of the moon reflecting on the ocean. The print will hang on painted white bricks; so I need to print on a paper that will provide the deepest, darkest, richest black sky to contrast with the yellow/orange moon.
Any suggestions will be appreciated !!!

I'd probably start with something 'glossy' like Canson Baryta or it's twins Ilford GFS, Hahn Baryta, Innova Baryta or Harman Gloss Baryta.

With all that black, the surface is going to be extremely!!! delicate

I think I measured 2.2 Dmax on the Canson from a Epson 3880 but Epsons do tend to over-ink in the darkest tones so things get blocked up a bit.

What about Museo Silver Rag?

It will have a very similar Dmax to GFS and Canson Baryta on most printers.
