The earthly colours and the dynamics in the sky are very good. Is it my impression or the photo is a bit tilted to the right? Or is it the topography?

I like the red soil along with some greens and also the smooth curves of the place.

A slight levelling needed, otherwise that distant lake is going to pour out all over the page. Other than that, that sweep of the ridge really makes the shot.

Paulo, Francois and Bill - thank you, gentlemen. I have made a slight adjustment to the horizon now. It is a little tricky as the horizon is murky and there are more than one lines.

That seems to have sorted it. And the more I look at this one, the more I like it

Good one, Rajan. My recent attempts on these kinds of cones were not nearly as successful. Perhaps the colour helps the cone stand out.

It is a remarkable sight. But the winds were severe and I am lucky to get any images at all.

...and I see from your blog that 11 mm helped squeeze it in.

It's amazing how many people you see using tripods in Icelandic gales.  ???

Love the red green and grey together. I assume that is a shadow in the middle and really like the idea of the sun coming through different parts of the landscape as the clouds move.

John,

It is not a shadow but a patch of dark in the crater's composition. Incidentally, the interplay of the sun and clouds a little later did create spectacular spotlight events as we drove out to other areas.
