I've been using the default Scenic Sharpen settings - 40/0.8/35/0 - but would like to hear from others  if they have found more optimum settings for general non-portrait work.

Ellis, I find that is no canned setting works.  You may want to check George Jardines development video series,  specifically the noise and sharpening info.

One of George's mantras is (paraphrased)....if you hear some one talk about standard set setting....run from the room.

Thanks for the tips John. Heading to check out what George has to say right now. At ISO 100 the 5Ds is the first camera where I feel I have to add in a little grain because the results (with portraits) are just a little too smooth for my taste.

for high frequency images I often use the settings shown in the attachment. Sometimes I also use radius 0.6 and/or amount 70 to 80.

The setting I found on my own, after reviewing what George Jardine had to say, were not quite as aggressive  53/1.0/40/60 and 0 for Luminance NR and 25/50/50 (defaults for Color/Detail/Smoothness) but at 2:1 magnification I can just see the improvements your settings make for high frequency , ISO images.
