Metal graphics is one of the great things of the new 10.11 El Capitan system and it is a good thing to have hardware that supports it since also Adobe is going to use it and it might speed up the workflow considerably.

On websites like this one ( http://www.imore.com/here-are-macs-work-os-x-el-capitans-metal#comments)
it is stated that the old macPro’s from 2012 can support Metal.

I wonder if that machine is so special since all the MacPro’s since 2009 seem to have the same videocard.  ( ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1 GB GDDR5-geheugen, PCI Express 2.0, two Mini DisplayPort-uitgangen and one dual-link DVI-poort)
Does anybody know something more about this?

I checked the Apple site and found this:

http://osxdaily.com/2015/06/09/os-x-el-capitan-system-requirements-compatible-mac/

which says:  Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)  is supported.

Thanks, but also in that piece i cannot find anything about the support of Metal graphics.
The old MacPro is supported in 10.11, but maybe not capable of running Metal at the same time.
Since metal addresses the CPU i suspect and hope support is related to the type of videocard.
