Lower Calf Creek Falls
« on: September 18, 2015, 10:12:28 am »

We made a return trip to the Grand Staircase-Escanlante in Utah this weekend. Family arrived from Belgium and we drove off a couple of days later for their first trip to the desert. Last time we attempted to hike through the park to the lower calf waterfall it ended in defeat. The group set off too late in the middle of the day and several members had serious issues with the heat. This time with just my wife, son and her sister and brother-in-law we set out at a much saner time in the morning and brought plenty of water (still not enough). Finally our hours of strenuous hiking we arrived at this stunning vista. We were just amazed this waterfall is right in the middle of the desert!

Mark,

I hope you all cooled your feet in the lovely, shallow pool at the base of the falls. My wife and I made a similar trek to it a few years ago, so we well understand your feelings.

I will post my photo of it (in color) in a separate thread, as I don't want to hijack this one.

I think it's about the most photogenic falls I've seen. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for the comments. My best friend is visiting from Belgium in October and now he wants to go! Another opportunity to get my feet wet I suppose.

Thanks Paul! It was fun shooting. I was testing the Panasonic GX8 which was nice.
