I think it would have been in color with deep red

Hi William - nice to hear from you again!

Interesting image but if I have to make a criticism then it will be that there is next to no real detail in the foreground to get me into the image.
Possibly pushing the shadows in that area might help a little.

I will be very interested to hear what others have to say.

This is the kind of image that color could be the reason for making the picture.

I agree with Peter, but it's pretty fine in B&W too.

I think the B&W version is just fine. It has all the essentials of the scene very nicely presented. Color would just be a distraction.

+1 with the addition of raising the mid tones to make them more silvery instead of grey.

The subject arangement is scrambled with nothing really bringing in focus/clarity to the image frame...and the tonality is so wan...accentuating that...and tonality/atmosphere in and of itself can't pull something like this together. In particular the similar shape of dark mass in fg right "negates" the clouds in bg...causing the eye to alternate between things at "edge of the frame"...meanwhile there is just pale vaguely distinct grass, sky,and some animals in nearly the entirety of the frame adjacent.

The image isn't about focus/clarity.....just the opposite. It is meant to be misty/dreamy. That is what William has tried to portray. He hasn't been 100% successful but someone wishing the image should be different from his vision should look elsewhere?  :(

The bright sun/cloud is interesting. Why not cheat and make the sun round? The tree in the lower left quadrant will look better if it is veiled in mist so it is not a dark silhouette. The cattle might bring more life into the scene by being the darkest values of the picture. This could become an excellent photo with the right recipe for contrast ratios. Maybe play around with two contrast layers--one for the middle to dark values and the other for mid to bright values; use a soft brush for to painting in masks.
