First Bird Shot
« on: September 08, 2015, 12:13:13 pm »

While waiting for a sunset shot that I had planned earlier, I saw this bird standing on a post about 20-30 ft from me. I usually don't photograph wildlife, but since I wasn't doing anything else, I decided to give it a go. Any critiques or comments would be appreciated.

P.S. I have been trying to identify this bird, but I haven't had much luck. The closest species I have found is the American Bittern. This image was taken from the coast of Mobile Bay, Alabama.

Great find Richard ! Bird is uncommon, what you have captured is a juvenile Yellow-Crowned Night-Heron. When it becomes an adult
the bird will become black and white. Its range is right on the east coast in the USA. No nits on the image good shot !

A fine image. Nice detail without being over sharp. Well done.
