Spray Coating for Matte Canvas
« on: September 03, 2015, 02:20:12 pm »

I am going to be printing on HP Artist Matte Canvas and would like recommendations for a can of coating that would be least likely to alter the look of the canvas. I don`t want to turn a matte canvas into a satin or gloss surface.

PremierArt Print Shield spray, Hahnemuhle Protective Spray or Moab Desert Varnish are the 3 matte finishes that are highly recommended.  Premier is one of the top options.

Breathing Color makes Timeless in a matte finish, and it looks very good.
You can purchase in a 32 oz size to avoid a full gallon.

A thick protective layer of gloss varnish and after that a thin matte varnish. Sounds illlogic but is not, building a protective layer with matte varnish is like spilling milk on it.
