Epson 7900 paper not moving while printing (please help)
« on: September 01, 2015, 04:23:59 pm »

Using my Epson 7900 the other day and everything working perfectly. Started it up today to do a small print run. The paper seems to load okay, but when I do either a nozzle check or a print, the print head will go back and forth but the paper does not advance and nothing prints.
I have looked for and obstructions in the paper transport path but everything looks okay. Has anyone experienced this before?

Appreciate and input I can get as I have an urgent job to get done and it late ;)

Thanks for looking.

Let it run like this for a while, more than likely it's an auto alignment process.  Once started, you can power off and power back on and the printer will start it right back up until finished.

It's a bit confusing as no message shows on the screen.  If it does this for longer than around 15 minutes then there might be another issue.

The issues of the head moving back and forth, no ink coming and no paper moving most often are the auto alignment process.  There is no rhyme or reason when this process will start.

if the head is just moving back and forth across the entire printer but nothing printing, then it is an auto calibration that seems to happen occasionally.  Let it run, it will take a while. If you kill power, it will have to start over so it well never resolve.

Hi Paul

Thanks so much for your reply to my post! I was at my wits end trying to figure this out!

I kept resetting the print every time this happened so perhaps, as you said, I was just interrupting an automatic process. I will give this a run again now and report back later!

Many thanks & regards

Yes Wayne. It does seem to go the full way back and forward and I probably kept interrupting the process by cancelling the print! Hopefully this will sort itself out if I let it run for longer!

Many thanks
